Annalisa’s paintings appear at first to be mechanically manufactured but on closer inspection one can see that it is the product of a very careful hand. Each work has a set of routines that must be followed and completed in as close to one sitting as possible. Her mania for the use of random number generators to allocate specific colour to the base grid initiates the life of the painting. By removing the artist from having responsibility of the colour selection, it then presents a dialogue and a set of problems, which the artist must respond to. Annalisa’s painting can be seen in Gray’s along with others until Friday 13th September.
